Shortes Scholarship

The Shortes Scholarship provides one $10,000 award to a student studying abroad for a full academic year.

About the Donor
Fabian and Dorothea Shortes were long-time residents of Ventura County at a time when it was mostly farm country. Several of their children and grandchildren participated in UCEAP Programs over the years. The year-long program of life and learning outside the US made the experiences life changing. The Shortes Scholarships are designed to encourage students who would have financial difficulty committing a full year to a UCEAP program in hopes that it has a similar transformational effect on them.
