Carlos García Barrón Scholarship

The Carlos García Barrón Scholarship annually provides two $5,000 awards for year-long study in Spain. The scholarship is named for Dr. Barrón, a professor in the Department of Spanish & Portuguese at UCSB, and a Study Center Director for UCEAP in Madrid, Spain in 1970-72 and 1988-89. He was very important to the development of the Madrid Study Center, and was a driving force in encouraging UCEAP students to take more regular courses at the Complutense University of Madrid, to allow them to be integrated into local student life.
